    About the Role:
    Carter Design is currently seeking a talented and experienced Interior Design Project Manager with a strong background in high-end residential design. This role works closely with our Principal Designers across multiple residential projects and requires a creative, self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced studio environment.

    The ideal candidate brings not only strong technical and organizational skills but also a passion for design, leadership, and collaboration. You’ll be interfacing with clients, contractors, fabricators, artisans, and the internal team to bring thoughtful, high-quality projects to life.

    Key Qualifications:

    • 3–5 years of professional experience in Interior Design Project Management

    • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field

    • Strong portfolio showcasing completed residential projects

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite

    • Excellent graphic presentation and visual communication skills

    • Deep knowledge of the full design process: Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Administration, and Installation

    • Familiarity with residential building codes and industry standards

    • Outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a collaborative team setting

    • A high level of attention to detail and a genuine passion for design

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop and manage project budgets and timelines

    • Maintain and organize project samples and ensure availability for site meetings

    • Create, maintain, and update project calendars and distribute to team and vendors

    • Lead weekly internal project reviews with principal designers, drafters, and assistants

    • Maintain and delegate tasks within project punch lists

    • Oversee and organize digital project folders

    • Ensure site photo surveys are conducted and filed for every visit

    • Coordinate with accounting to generate invoices based on approved estimates

    • Process approved orders through Purchasing Agent and ensure all receipts are properly filed

    • Track and update project budgets weekly with all new purchases

    • Record and distribute meeting notes

    • Maintain comprehensive finish and furnishings schedules, including furniture, upholstery, lighting, plumbing, window coverings, paint, flooring, and more

    • Provide weekly project updates to Principal Designer and clients

    Compensation:

    Commensurate with experience.

 
 

BOOKEEPER

  • Bookkeeper (Part-Time / Contract)
    Location: In-person (exact location to be specified)

    About the Role:

    We are a bi-coastal interior design firm seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper with strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with our existing accounting team.

    Experience with bookkeeping in an interior design firm is highly preferred.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Process vendor payments accurately and on time

    • Assist in the creation of client proposals and project budgets

    • Maintain and update project budget records regularly

    • Handle monthly billing and ensure timely vendor payments

    • Organize and maintain onsite financial documentation related to individual projects

    • Collaborate with our accounting firm to ensure all transactions are properly categorized

    Tools Required:

    • QuickBooks Online

    • Google Drive / Google Sheets

  • Carter Design is seeking a freelance interior design assistant designer to help with social media and online sales of furnishings in their studio in St.James New York.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Intertest and experience in interior design

    Savy with social media

    Attention to detail

    Knowledge of furniture and

    Organizational skills

    Computer Skills :

    Proficient in Google Drive

    Photoshop a plus

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist the design team with samples ordering, social media, and shipping of furnishings from the online store.
