My Uncle Sam White and Monacelli Press published this wonderful gem of a book that puts the design detailing of Stanford White front and center. The photos highlight Stanford’s boundless imagination and artistic play of materials throughout his work.
We feel lucky that many of the details captured in this book have fed our eyes and continue to do so as we live near and gather frequently at his home and studio, Box Hill.
Bamboo wallcovering, rope banisters, creative use of nail heads, patterned mosaics, sculptures that feel like we should know them by name all act as inspiration and find their ways into our projects. Even if it is just the nudge to go for it for a different shade of tile.
